'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the dramatic final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful shot from outside the box, and the defender immediately converted the rebound before charging toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an unbelievable comeback given Swansea had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a next round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for having a go from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right wing-back after the team changed formation. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way his former team attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division Salford City, before he departed his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without serious challenge. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including home and away games against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This represents an incredible journey for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I reached the point where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

New Environment

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself a teammate, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
